About CASP

The Community Aided Sponsorship Program (CASP), started by Dr. Sharatchandra Gokhale in 1975 is a premier national organization committed to the development of the child, family and community. Both ILU and ILC are sister concerns of CASP.

CASP believes in networking, strengthening alliances and building partnerships with national and international organizations with mutually compatible objectives so as to accomplish its mission. It seeks to impart development opportunities to underprivileged children across India to enable them to take their rightful place in the world.

It is committed to the comprehensive development of children and has adopted a holistic, participatory approach towards childrens’ well-being. CASP believes that the child cannot develop in isolation. He needs an environment that enables and encourages his development. Thus, it has adopted the means of sponsorship to support children and guide their families and the community at large towards development, empowerment and self reliance.

CASP now reaches out to over 30,000 children whose families are victims of disease, crime or poverty.
